WHAT’S HAPPENING AT MARKET

Reminder: “Petiquette” at Market

The market is a great place for people and pets to socialize if you are attentive to market “petiquette.”  Some issues to consider:

Greet Before You Meet: Not everyone appreciates dogs, so make sure that customers and vendors are prepared to meet your dog.  Also, ask permission  before petting unknown dogs.

Paws Off, Please!: The vast majority of food products at market are for humans, not dogs, so keep your dog away from food unless you are purchasing it.

Stuff Happens: A quick walk before the market can encourage your dog to answer the calls of nature before getting to market.  If an accident happens, be sure to pick up after your pooch.

Protect Your Pet and People: It’s also a good idea to muzzle your pet, especially if s/he is a little excitable around other dogs or lots of people.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Double Up Food Bucks is back this season!

Every Saturday this winter market season, our community is converging to celebrate a simple miracle: farmers coming together to share a harvest that’s feeding local families. The results are easy to enumerate: more viable regional economies; stronger social networks that help keep communities healthy; and increased access to fresh, nutritious food. This year more than ever, the Cherry Street Farmers’ Market is committed to reaching out to Tulsans in need: the market is proud to announce the continuation of the Double Up Food Bucks incentive program into our 2013 season.

Since the program has debuted, the market has been able to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to hundreds of Tulsans in need. This enormously successful endeavor has prompted us to seek community support: we need your help in order to continue providing the Double Up Food Bucks incentive for our 2013 market season.

Individual donations can be submitted through the Tulsa Community Foundation’s web site at www.tulsacf.org  Click “Give Now”; select the amount you wish to give; and choose “Cherry Street Farmers Market Double Up Food Fund” under “Fund Name.” You can also send donations directly to our PO Box 14572, Tulsa OK 74159: write the check to Tulsa Community Foundation and be sure to put “Cherry Street Farmers Market Double Up Food Fund” in the memo line.  We thank you for your support!
